Jazz @ Jack's Debut!!

MJO debuted at Denver (Lodo) Jazz @ Jack's last night (June 11th) and had a great time! There was a small but excited crowd when we began at 7:30 and by 10p, we had a good audience that really seemed to be enjoying the music. We featured a lot of great vocals by Suzanne Morrison and Doug Barta as well as featuring some of the excellent soloists the band has!

We have a steady gig starting in July. We play the FIRST TUESDAY of each month, starting at 7:30p (JULY 3rd). Please help us spread the word and come down and enjoy the great atmosphere, drinks/food and GREAT music. We want to fill the house. We take requests - ahead of time if possible :).

Check the website for details or give me a call.

The GREAT WAYNE BERGERON!

OK...if you don't play trumpet, you may not be familiar with that name....BUT if you've been to the movies lately or watch TV and heard some screaming trumpet playing, then you've probably heard Wayne Bergeron. He is the #1 call trumpet player in Los Angeles with a resume of hundreds of movies and TV shows including The Incredibles, Superman Returns, X-Men 3, Spiderman 2...and the list goes on and on.

Wayne also plays lead trumpet in the amazing Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band from LA. A Maynard Ferguson band alumni as well, Wayne now runs his own big band with two CD's to his credit.

I could go on and on but the exciting part is that Wayne will be here in Denver Nov. 3rd to perform and clinic with MJO! Saturday Nov. 3rd at 2p he will hold a clinic (i.e Master Class) for any and all interested musicians and non-musicians (at Cherry Creek High School auditorium). Have the opportunity to ask questions, learn some techniques or learn about the business of playing for a living from one of the greats!

After that at 7p, Wayne will perform a concert with MJO featuring tunes from both his CD's. CDs will be on sale as well.

This is an opportunity you don't want to miss! While Denver has certainly had its share of great professional musicians in town, this is Wayne's first trip to Denver and is sure to be a fantastic and exciting day of music!

Go to our website (http://www.metropolitanjazzorchestra.org/) and look under the Guest Artist Program tab for all the details, links and ticket sales info.

Questions or comments, give me a call: 303.521.8206.

Thanks!!

Requests?

We DO take requests!! If you are coming to an upcoming performance and just HAVE to hear a specific tune, just let us know and if at all possible, we'll play it!! We all play for love of music (or else we'd all starve to death!) so if we can do something special for you, please let us know!!

We welcome your comments and inputs!

We have just upgraded our website with a new look and feel with a lot of great features and pages. Our calendar is very user friendly with venue and map links. There is plenty of info on the band including pictures, sound clips, song lists and this new blogging feature!

If you have any comments, suggestions, bugs?? or just want to say "hi", please add a post here.

Also if you'd like to be kept up to date on MJO happenings, please sign up for our newsletter. We do NOT spam and I try to be conscious of the plethora of junk e-mail we all receive so I try to keep things short and sweet!! Make sure to check your "junk" mail box in case our mail gets put there. Add us (info@metropolitanjazzorchestra.org) to your approved list in your e-mail program!

Thanks again for all your support over the years. Things just keep getting better and better and we hope to have the opportunity to play for you soon. If anyone you know is interested in MJO for a function/event, please give Scott a call @ 303.521.8206.

Thanks..............Scott
